SRINAGAR: Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir (ATOAK) has lauded the efforts of department of tourism for taking the adventure and recreational tourism seriously as this segment of tourism has a vast and tremendous potential in Kashmir valley and other parts of J&K state.
In a press statement President ATOAK Rauf Tramboo said after turmoil this is for the first time that such an initiative to promote adventure tourism in its all forms has been taken by the department of tourism.
The special presentation given on adventure tourism at ongoing TTF at Kolkatta is a step taken in a right direction as a good number of people in west Bengal are adventure tourism enthusiasts, we hope the department will arrange similar presentations in other parts of India and abroad as well., said Rauf Tramboo. The decision to introduce chopper services for heli – sightseeing to places like Pahalgam, Sonmarg and Gulmarg is a welcome sign but we should not limit this activity to these two or three places only we must also use them to promote our newly developed places like Dodh Pathri, Lolab, Bangus,Gurez, Wardwan, Ahrabal, Kokernag and yusmarg.These chopper services we can use to promote Angling sport by making the angling packages for Gangbal and Veshansar lakes for high end tourists.
The efforts of government to develop high-end infrastructure by setting up of 5-star hotels to attract and cater high-end tourists to the Valley however is not a wise idea as we can damage the pristine beauty and also fragile eco-system of the places by constructing huge cement and iron buildings instead government should encourage stakeholders to develop very high end tenting resorts with 5 star amenities which are environmental friendly and will go well with eco-tourism of these places. The members of ATOAK will offer their services and help in developing these eco-friendly resorts for high end tourists.
