SOPORE: Police and army on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba militant in Sopore town of Baramulla district.
A police official said that militant Ubaid Untoo alias Faris who is accused in Hygam grenade blast in which an under trial militant Wahid Noor Khan and a policeman were killed was apprehended in a joint raid by police and armys 22 Rashtriya Rifles at a checkpoint in Chanakan area.
Police said that the naka was laid out after concrete information about the movement of the militant. A case under FIR number 77/15 under sections 302, 307 RPC ¾ has been registered against him.
Police claim that Ubaid had handed over two grenades to the slain militant at Sopore Court. Besides the killing of the under trial Pakistan militant and a policeman, four other cops were injured in Hygam blast. (GNS)
