Srinagar: An encounter broke out between suspected infiltrators and army along Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of north Kashmirs Kupwara district on Wednesday.
Official sources said that armys 26 Rajput manning the fence at Eagle Post spotted some suspicious movement on Wednesday morning and launched cordon-and-search operation in the area.
As the forces intensified the searches in the area, the infiltrators who might have sneaked in this part of Kashmir last night opened heavy fire upon them. The troops retaliated, ensuing a gunfight, they said.
Following the exchange of fire, the infiltrators managed to give slip to the forces, they said.
Later in the day, the troops along with the additional reinforcement have launched the massive searches to track down the militant group.
