Srinagar: Scores of landlords from Central Kashmirs Ganderbal district, whose land have been occupied by Army Tuesday staged a protest against Revenue Department alleging that Revenue Officials have tampered with their land records as a result they are unable to receive a single penny from the Ministry of Defence as land compensation.
The protesters who assembled at Press Enclave Srinagar appealed to the Government to probe the matter saying that certain Revenue Officials for the reasons better known to them tempered with the land records. Our land comprising 130 kanals located at Wusan Kangan was occupied by Army in 1995. Twenty years have expired and we have not received a single penny in the form of compensation, courtesy Revenue Officials, a landlord Ghulam Ahmed told CNS.
Another protester Muhammad Maqbool Sofi said that they approached Defence Section at Shivpora who directed us to produce the land record of the land under Army. The Revenue Officials do not oblige as a result we are unable to receive legitimate compensation, he said.
We are clear from. The landlords will get compensation after producing the documents, an Army official told CNS.
