SRINAGAR: Jumat-ul-Vida – the last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan – was observed in all the three re-gions of Jammu and Kashmir with complete reverence, devotion and religious fervor.
The largest congregational gathering was witnessed at centrally located historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar where thousands of people offered prayers.
Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq on the occasion delivered the Friday sermon, throwing light on the importance and blessings of the day.
The second largest congregational gathering was witnessed at Hazratbal shrine here where thousands of people offered Jumat-ul-Vida prayers.
From early morning thousands of devotees-bound vehicles could be seen on their way to Dargah Hazratbal where devotes had the glimpse of holy relic.
The congregational prayers were also held at all Masajids and shrines in Srinagar including Ziarat-e-Makhdoom Sahib, Khanqah-e-Maulla and Masjid-e-Sajjadia and Imambara Hassanabad.
In south Kashmir, people in large numbers offered the Jumat-ul-Vida congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid Hanfia, Jamia Masjid Ahlihadith, Bait-ul-Muqaram and Rehat-Ded Masjid in Islamabad town. Huge congre-gational prayers were also offered in Ziarat-e-Sharief Khiram, Kabamarg, Kund, Aishmuqam and Bijbehara areas of the district.
In Kulgam the biggest congregational prayers were held in Jamia Masjid.
Huge congregational prayers were also witnessed in Khankah Tral, Jamia Masjid Shopian and Jamia Masjid Pulwama.
Thousands of Muslims also offered Jumat-ul-Vida prayers in all other districts of state, including Baramulla and Sopore.
Meanwhile, the Jumat-ul-Vida was also observed as Yaum-al-Qudus and Yaum-e-Kashmir in the state.
Special prayers were offered for the freedom of Kashmir and Palestine.
A number ofQuds Day demonstrationswere held against Israeli occupation of Palestine and Bait-ul-Muqqadas following Friday prayers.
A procession led by Syed Abid Hussain from Masjid Imam Zaman Abi Guzar culminated at Press Colony. The protestors raised anti-Israeli and anti America slogans and expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine.
Similar protests were held at Hassanabad, Alamgiribazar and Chattabal in Srinagar.
