TEHRAN Iran’s Navy has plans to hold multiple naval exercises in the near future, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced.
The war games will start after the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which ends on July 17, the commander told reporters in Tehran on Monday.
Sayyari said the drills will include operations by different watercraft, including vessels and submarines, as well as exercises focusing on the technological, electronic warfare and missile capabilities.
He also noted that “Velayat” naval war game is scheduled for the end of the Iranian year (to end on March 19, 2016).
Elsewhere in his comments, the top commander said his forces are manufacturing new Paykan-class rocket launching warships, as well as Qadir and Fateh-class submarines.
Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including the air defense systems that use cutting edge technologies.
Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
