SRINAGAR, JULY 14: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Information Technology and Technical Education Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari today reaffirmed his commitment to development water sports in the State. He said Jammu and Kashmir is the only State where water is available in abundance for sports. However, he said proper training and equipment is required to be provided to the sports persons to harness their full potential. He said Union Minister for Sports has assured him for development of water sports in a big way in the State.
The Minister was speaking at a functioning convened here to felicitate the water sports persons including 15 girls who participated in National Federation Cup held at Punjab from June 24 to June 27, 2015.
The Minister distributed certificates, sports kits, medals, trophies and mementos among the participants and winners. The J&K team had won 8 medals including 5 gold, one silver and 2 bronze and has become champion of the tournament.
On the occasion, the Minister appreciated the work of Jammu and Kashmir Kayaking and Canoeing Association including its coach Bilquees Mir for their outstanding performance in water sports.
