Srinagar: People from different hamlets of North Kashmirs Handwara town staged a protest alleging that from past ten days, not a single doctor has turned up in government hospital located at Wadipora Rajwar in the town.
Ten days ago, authorities transferred the sole doctor who had been serving the patients single handedly from past many years. With the departure of that doctor, the authorities did not bother to depute any doctor in the hospital, the protesters said adding that a Junior Assistant runs the affairs of the hospital.
They demanded a doctor or two should be posted at the hospital and the authorities should ensure that doctors stay in the hospital during night hours as well.
Block Medical Officer Zachildara Dr Fareed said that department has been facing acute shortage of manpower. We will depute few doctors there and they will be available during night hours also, he said. (CNS)
