Srinagar: Two more Amarnath pilgrims died of cardiac arrest in Baltal and Pahalgam taking the death toll to four during the ongoing yatra which started on July 2 last week.
A police official said that NB Patel (65) of Gujarat fell unconscious today morning at Chandanwari in Pahalgam area of south Kashmirs Anantnag district and Baidev Raj Khoda (70) of New Delhi also fell unconscious at Domail area of Baltal in central Kashmirs Ganderbal district late last night respectively.
Both the pilgrims were taken to the nearby respective hospitals where doctors declared them brought dead, the official said, adding that the duo died of heart attack.
The bodies of the pilgrims were brought back to the base camps and handed over to their relatives for last rites.
Pertinently, two pilgrims Subash Chander (63) and Rama Shanker (58) of Uttar Pradesh had died of cardiac arrest enroute to cave.
Meanwhile, six Amarnath pilgrims were injured after a vehicle in which they were travelling in overturned in Bali nallah area of Udhampur late last night, the official said. All the injured were hospitalized at district hospital Udhampur.
