Srinagar: A team of Food Safety Officers headed by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Srinagar intercepted various milk vendors at Pantha Chowk here today. Some containers along with milk which was unfit for human consumption were destroyed on the spot besides 5 samples were lifted for analytical purposes.
In addition some bakery manufacturing units at Chanapora and Natipora were also inspected and some of them were found in insanitary condition. One bakery unit namely Delicious Bakery was found in total insanitary conditions. Rusted utensils were being used in the manufacturing of Bakery items. The prepared food items were kept in direct sunlight exposed to dust and flies. The manufacturing/sale of said bakery unit was prohibited till further orders.
Meanwhile, the department seized 175 Kg contaminated dates from one shop at Parimpora Fruit Mandi and samples of the same were also sent for analytical purposes.
