Kulgam: Amid anti-teachers slogans, hundreds of students from a government school blocked traffic and staged a massive protest in South Kashmir, demanding immediate transfer of the teaching who according to protesting students do not attend the classes on regular basis.
Eyewitnesses said that students from Government High School Okai, Chawalgam Kulgam blocked Aharbal-Kulgam road as a result vehicular movement was disrupted more than two hours.
The students alleged teaching staff of their school usually remain absent and those who arrive at School do not take classes. We want immediate transfer and action against these teachers who draw huge salaries but do not show any interest in imparting education to the students, said protesting students.
Deputy Chief Education Officer Kulgam, Bashir Ahmed Bhat rushed to spot to pacify the protesting students. Reports said that students dispersed peacefully after the CEO assured them legal action would be initiated against the erring teachers. (CNS)
