Srinagar: The traders in Maisuma locality downed their shutters and observed a shutdown against the alleged highhandedness of activists of a separatist organization on Saturday afternoon.
The shopkeepers alleged that a group of people who claim to be the activists of a separatist organization demand donations from them on daily basis and if somebody refuses to oblige, they abuse and thrash him.
The traders of Maisuma, Gowkadal and Red Cross Road downed their shutters and as a mark of protest observed a shutdown after a shopkeeper was allegedly beaten up by these activists. We donate by heart but it is painful to watch these activists abusing and beating up shopkeepers who refuse to pay them anything, president Maisuma Traders Body Sajad Gul said.
