Srinagar: Separatist leaders Thursday staged a protest against the use of lethal pepper gas and pellet guns against pro-freedom protesters in Kashmir Valley.
Scores of activists from Islamic Political Party led by Muhamamd Yousuf Naqash assembled here in Press Enclave and staged a peaceful protest. Carrying placards seeking ban on the use of pepper gas and pellet guns on the protesters in Kashmir, the protesters said people all across Kashmir are choked by use of hazardous pepper gas and Chili grenades.
Naqash said that, India has been violating human rights here. Scores have lost eye-sight due to use of pellet guns and the frequent use of pepper gas has been taking toll on the health of the people especially older ones. We urge international community to take serious note of it and force India to stop using lethal weapons on the peaceful protesters in Kashmir, he said.
The protesters dispersed peacefully and police made no attempt to stop or arrest them.
