SRINAGAR: Meteorological Department Tuesday trashed the reports about imminent spell of 12-day rainfall in July, next month, as baseless.
In a statement, Director MeT, Sonam Lotus said that a local daily has misquoted MeT department by saying that there will be continuous rain in Kashmir from 14th July to 25th July.
This news item has created panic and confusion among the general public. In this regard, the MeT clarifies that neither the head of the department nor any officials issued any such statement as the Meteorological Department, J&K issues daily Weather Forecast for a maximum period of (7) Seven days only and the same is updated two times a day, Morning 12 PM and Evening 18Hrs. Hence the report of prediction of continuous 12 days rainfall in Kashmir by this department from July 14 to25th is totally baseless and people are requested not to take this news report seriously, the statement reads.
