SRINAGAR: Minister for Horticulture, Hajj & Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri today inaugurated day-long State Level Workshop on Institutional-Industrial Interaction for Capacity Building in Food Processing, organized by the Department of Food Technology of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora
The workshop deliberated on the challenges and opportunities in food processing sector in J&K and sought recommendations for empowering overall ecosystem for healthy growth of this sector.
Expressing concern on lack of proper post-harvest techniques, the Minister said that stress is being laid on post-harvest management of horticulture products as this sector constitutes the backbone of JKs economy. He said the government is committed to promote horticulture and bring it under crop insurance scheme.
