JAMMU: The Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Jammu, has called for trifurcation of the state as the only remedial option left to end discrimination with the Jammu region.
“Be it AIIMS or all the issues related to welfare of Jammu, the government has always been soft on the Valley while putting our region to all hardships. The CCI is of the opinion that under such circumstances trifurcation is the only way out,” said Rakesh Gupta.
This is for the first time that the Chamber has sought for state’s trifurcation on the basis of reported discrimination with Jammu.
Congress vice-president Sham Lal Sharma had also advocated for autonomous regional council for Jammu in 2014 citing discrimination with the Jammu region.
Meanwhile, the CCI president has hailed the statement made by health minister Lal Singh on Wednesday at Akhnoor wherein he has openly said that if AIIMS is not constructed at Jammu first, the same shall not be allowed to be constructed in Kashmir.
He said that the Chamber strongly feels that the way in which the government is working and the state is heading, it will lead to chaos and panic and thus trifurcation of the state is the only remedy left.
