SOPORE: For the second straight day, a shutdown was observed in Sopore town against the killings of civilians by unidentified gunmen, witnesses said.
Most of the shops, commercial establishments and education institutes were closed in the town and its adjoining areas, including Sangrama.
The town witnessed thin movement of public and private transport.
Clashes between youth and government forces also broke out in Main Chowk and other adjoining localities but no one was reported injured.
The police and paramilitary personal were deployed in sensitive localities of the Town to maintain law and order.
Forces conduct searches
Government forces conducted cordon and search operations following the inputs about the presence of militants.
Forces, including armys 22 Rashtriya Rifles, 179 Battalion of CRPF and SOG conducted searches at Badambagh and Noor Bagh and areas of the town.
Even though no one was arrested, but the suspects were thoroughly questioned by the forces. The forces have also stepped up security along the roads leading to Sopore Town.
