SRINAGAR: A policeman was killed after militants attacked a patrol party in Bijbehara area of south Kashmirs Anantnag district Tuesday night.
A police official tsaid that some militants opened fire upon a police party near the police station Bijbehara at around 9:25 PM resulting in injuries to a constable.
The injured constable, identified as Arif Ahmad (belt no. 1922/A), a resident of Safakadal, Srinagar was immediately shifted to nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Meanwhile, police and army launched searches to nab the attackers.
No group has claimed responsibility till reports last came in late in the night.
