SRINAGAR: In view of ensuing Ramzan, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone convened a meeting here Friday and took stock of the arrangements being made to facilitate the people by the District Administration during the holy month.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the concerned departments to make availability of adequate stock of ration, atta, sugar at all sale centres of district. He directed them to ensure supply of gas and kerosene oil to the consumers. He is also directed the Power Development Department and PHE to ensure supply uninterrupted electricity and water supply to the people.
Deputy Commissioner directed the CA&PD, Metrology and Food Safety departments to intensify the market checking in district Srinagar and ensure availability of good quality of food items including meat so that prices would be controlled.
The Municipal authorities were instructed to maintain cleanliness and sanitation around important places including Dargah Hazratbal, Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, Khanqah Moula, Syed Sahib, Makhdoom Sahib and other places. He advised the concerned for restoration of street lights in the district.
For festivity of Ramzan, the Ramzan markets would be established at various important places of City which include Dargah Hazratbal, Lal Chowk, Boulevard road, Zadibal, Aali Kadal and other places. The markets would remain open from Iftiyar to Namizi Isha. These markets will function under the control of Sub Divisional Magistrate East Srinagar.
