SRINAGAR: Commissioner-Secretary Agriculture Production Department M.A. Bukhari today reviewed the implementation of National Mission on Saffron with the officers involved with the Mission.
Among others, Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chief Engineer Mechanical Engineering Division Kashmir, Director Planning APD and Nodal Officer for Saffron Mission were also present in the meeting.
It was impressed upon the Officers involved with this prestigious mission to work in closeco-ordination with all agencies and farmers so as to achieve 100 percent target of this project as 2016 is the last year of the Sanctioned project.
Chief Engineer Mechanical Engineering Division was directed to execute the work of laying of pipes under sprinkle irrigation system for Saffron crop during the current season by working in double shifts and increasing manpower to achieve the set target. It was impressed upon the concerned officers that they should mobilize the field Staff involved with the mission in order to create awareness about the importance of sprinkle system of irrigation for increasing the production of saffron.
The Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama and Senior Superintendent of Police Pulwama were instructed by the Commissioner Secretary to stop the Conversion of Saffron Land into residential Colonies/Business establishments. It was also decided that the violators will be dealt under section 133 of land revenue act. It was also instructed by the Commissioner Secretary that FIRsshould be lodged against those who damage and destroy the public property and the IrrigationInfrastructure being laid under the mission.
Chief Engineer Mechanical Engineering Division assured that his team will work hard and double the efforts in laying the pipes for sprinkle irrigation system and will complete the job during the current financial year.
