SRINAGAR: ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (CITH), Srinagar organized farmers interaction meeting with Bayer Crop Science Experts and Scientists of CITH here today. Farmers particularly apple growers from districts of Shopian, Kulgam, Anantnag, Pulwama etc. participated in the event.
During the interaction session, Consultant, Eco Fruit Council, France gave detailed overview on apple scab and wooly aphid. Farmers raised queries regarding the problems they are facing in apple and valuable suggestions for their remedy were provided on spot by CITH Scientists and Experts from Bayer. Farmers were enlightened on judicious use of fungicides against scab and pesticides against wooly aphid. Use of NAA for the control of premature fruit fall in apple, use of new generation fungicides for control of scab to avoid resistance development, use of Ca to enhance fruit quality and shelf life, sanitation of orchards to avoid primary scab infection, use of thiocholaroprid for control of wooly aphid, proper drainage in apple to avoid root rot etc. were discussed during the interaction session. Application of Rim Pro model as for casting system for scab disease was discussed by Bayer experts.
