SRINAGAR: Peoples Conference legislator Bashir Ahmad Dar’s son Tuesday died while his brother was injured after a vehicle in which they were travelling in met with an accident at Pattan on Baramulla-Srinagar highway.
Giving details a police official said that Basharat Bashir Dar along with his younger brother Fida Hussain were on way to Srinagar when their private car (Bolero) bearing registration number JK09A-0008 collided with a minibus (Tata 407) at Ranji area of Pattan Tuesday morning.
In the mishap, both the brothers were injured and were immediately evacuated to sub-district hospital Pattan where 28 year old Basharat, a lawyer by profession, was pronounced dead on arrival by the doctors.
Doctors have described condition of Fida as stable.
A pall of gloom descended in Jagerpora-the native village of Basharat and its adjoining villages when the body of the deceased reached there.
Meanwhile, more than fifty thousand people attended the funeral prayers of Basharat and was later laid to rest amid sobs and tears.
Peoples Conference Chairman and Minister for Animal Husbandry Sajad Gani Lone, on hearing about the incident, rushed to Kupwara to express solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved family.
“Lone postponed all his official appointments and participated in the funeral prayer of the deceased. He visited the residence of MLA Kupwara and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul,” an official spokesman said.
Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, has expressed grief over the tragic death of Basharat Bashir, son of MLA Kupwara, Bashir Ahmad Dar.
In his condolence message, Mufti Sayeed expressed solidarity with Bashir Ahmad Dar and other members of the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed also expressed their grief over the demise of legislator’s son and expressed solidarity with Dar and other members of his family, the spokesman said.
National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, his son and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed grief over the demise of Basharat while praying for peace to the departed soul.
