Ganderbal: Stating that militants always want to disrupt the peace during Amarnath Yatra, General Officer Commanding, 15 Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General Subrata Saha Friday said that Army is ready to face any challenge and it will put every effort to create conducive atmosphere for the Amarnath Pilgrims.
Militants always want to target Yatra. It is our duty to maintain peace and we are ready to face any challenge, GoC told reporters on the sidelines of a function in Central Kashmirs Ganderbal district.
As part of the ongoing efforts of Army to empower youth, a large scale talent search Zahanat-2015, Ganderbal Got Talent was conducted by Army Camp Ganderbal under the aegis of Chinar Corps.
This event was an endeavor by the Army to nurture and showcase the budding talent of Ganderbal. Earlier as part of this mega event Volleyball, Football, T20 Tournament, Run for Fun, Singing and Painting competitions were organized at Anderwan, Badampura and Dodarhama respectively. The event culminated in a grand finale at Qamaria stadium in Ganderbal.
Besides, Lt Gen Subrata Saha, GOC, Chinar Corps and Major General Arvind Dutta, GOC, Victor Force, local legislator, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Showkat Ajiaz Mir and SSP Imtayaz Ismail Parray along with other officers of the administration were present on this occasion. Numerous state departments and NGOs placed stalls to encourage and guide the youth on various employment opportunities available in the fields of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Hospitality Management and Banking.
This event provided the much needed launch pad to the talented youth of Ganderbal. The highlights of the event were enthusiastic and spirited cultural program and a karate display by the youth of Ganderbal which was lauded by all, said an Army spokesperson.
As a memoire of the event and bonding between the army and people of Ganderbal, the Chinar Corps Cadre also dedicated the much needed toilet block to Higher Secondary School, Qamaria, Ganderbal.
