Srinagar Little known Youth For Nation that had announced to hoist Indian national flag at historic Lal Chowk Clock Tower in the city on May 16 at 11:30 am has called off the ceremony due to what it called callous attitude of the Jammu and Kashmir Government.
Accusing BJP of double standards, the group head Nirman Deep Singh said that this party did not provide them permission and instead informed them that the flag hoisting can hurt the sentiments of Kashmiri people.
Our organization did not blame PDP but it was BJP that forced us to call off our flag hoisting march. It was the same BJP when its youth leader Anurag Thakur in 2013 started a march from Jammu to hoist Indian flag in Srinagar. That time BJP was out of power and could not succeed in its march as the then government did not permit them. Now the same party which is now in power did not permit us and this has exposed it, he said.
I am surprised that the same leaders who encouraged us for May 16 march stopped us and got us arrested few days back, Singh said, however refused to name the people backing his organization.
He revealed that hundreds of activists had arrived in Jammu to participate in the flag hoisting march. These activists had come from Panjab, West Bengal, Haryana, Maharashtra, UP, West Bengal. We have now suspended our march now and they will return back to their native places, he said adding that Indian patriots are shocked to know that government didnt allow Indian tricolor to get unfurled at historic Lal Chowk.
