Srinagar: Former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and religious scholar, Nazir Ahmad Kashani, has passed away in Srinagar after prolonged illness. He was 76.
Thousands of people belonging to different walks of life including Hurriyat leaders, Shabir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal and Khakeem Abdur Rasheed attended the funeral prayers of the deceased at Buchpora Chowk in Srinagar, today.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL), Muhammad Farooq Rehmani and Islamic Political Party-JK chairman, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash have expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Nazir Ahmad Kashani.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a condolence message to the family of the deceased and Ameer of the Jamaat-e-Islami of the occupied territory, Muhammad Abdullah Wani, paid rich tribute to the services of Nazir Ahmad Kashani. He also prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss with patience.
Muhammad Yousuf Naqash in his statement in Srinagar said that the late Kashanis social, religious and political contribution was noteworthy and he would be remembered for his notable works.
