Srinagar: The 84-kilometer historic Mughal Road was closed for traffic after heavy rainfall triggered landslides on Wednesday.
A traffic police officer said that landslides occurred due to heavy and incessant rainfall at Shikargah area in Poonch district, causing disruption in vehicular movement.
All efforts are on to make the road operational.Vehicles will be allowed to ply only after landslide debris is cleared along the road,” he said.
Mughal road that connects Bafliaz town of Poonch district in Jammu region to Shopian town in the Kashmir valley was opened on May 3 this year after having remained closed for five months.
Meanwhile, the Jammu-Srinagar highway on Wednesday remained open for one-way traffic (Srinagar to Jammu) despite heavy rainfall.
