Srinagar: Police Wednesday inaugurated first Womens Police Cell in Kargil. A programme Huqooqe Khawateen was also organized on the occasion, a police statement said this evening.
The programme was participated by around 350 women volunteers including volunteers from women wing of Islamia School Kargil, IKMT Kargil, Anjumane Saheb Zamaan and students from various institutions of Kargil, the statement said.
Speakers from these prominent organizations, Hajiya Sayeda Fatima from ISK, Hajiya Zahra Yousufi from IKMT, Archo Bentul Huda Kacho from Anjumane Saheb Zamaan, Assistant Director CAPD Kargil, Miss Ruth Marry, AEE PHE Miss Kausar Qari spoke on women rights, domestic violence, status of women in Islam and need for women cell in Kargil. A short play was also staged by Ranthaq Theatre group Kargil, the statement informed.
Speaking on the occasion, the SSP Kargil Dr Shailendra Mishra assured the women of Kargil that it is the prerogative of District Police Kargil to uphold the rights of the women and the Women Cell will definitely make Kargil a better and safer place for the sisters of Kargil.
He appealed to them to come forward and utilize the services of this cell in case of any kind of crime against them, the statement added.
