Srinagar: Reiterating that political prisoners will be released in the days ahead, Peoples Democratic Party Tuesday said that separatist leaders need to reciprocate to the space that will be given to them and they should display some maturity.
Mehboob Beg, the newly appointed Chief Spokesperson of Peoples Democratic Party Dr Mehboob Beg castigated former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for claiming that PDP receives dictation from Nagpur. BJP is silent and not raising the issue of Article 370. Is that anything to do with Nagpur. Chief Minister soon after assuming power thanked the militants and Pakistan for not resorting to violence during elections, was that dictation from Nagpur. To accuse and level allegations is easy than to prove it on the ground, Beg said adding that people of the state will feel the real change in coming days as Mufti Muhammad Sayeed means business and really want to do something extraordinary for the people.
Dr Beg said that it is unfortunate that PDP has limited mandate otherwise the situation would have been different. Despite having limited mandate, Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed is not feeling pressure from any quarter and is doing his job honestly and freely, he said adding PDP will fulfill all the promises made to the people.
When asked PDP like National Conference has also started a crackdown on the separatist leaders, Beg said that there is hell of difference between PDP and NC. Mufti sahib is keen to provide political space to separatist leaders including Syed Ali Geelani. It was him, who paved the release of Masarat Alam and faced the criticism from whole India when Alam took the freedom far granted during a rally. Mufti does believe in the slogan of battle of ideas but separatist must reciprocate positively and should honour the political space offered to them by the government, he said and added that it is a two way traffic and separatist leaders should understand that our party has a limited mandate.
Refuting the charges that BJP is not honouring the Agenda of Alliance, Beg said that Governor during his address that was approved by the Cabinet of which BJP is a part has clearly said that Hurriyat leaders will be taken on board and will be engaged in talks. We will show everyone we mean business. We will make a mark and will address the problems. The Chief Minister has directed all the Ministers not to be constituency specific but work for the betterment of all the people, he said. (CNS)
