New Delhi: Former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha member Ghulam Nabi Azad Tuesday expressed serious concern over the deplorable condition of Srinagar-Jammu Highway.
In a statement, Azad said that dilapidated Srinagar-Jammu highway
usually breaks down, leading to frequent closures and road accidents.
He appealed to the State Government to take up the matter with the Union Ministry of Surface Transport so that permanent remedial measures are initiated to make it roadworthy. I have already taken up the matter with the government of India and I feel state government should follow suit, he said.
“Improvement in condition of roads on Highway and restoration of important public utility services should be the prime concern of the State Government, he said.
Azad expressed grief over the precious loss of lives in Udhampur road accident and appealed State Government to provide all possible help to the families of the victims.
