Srinagar: Water scarcity has badly hit Alocchi Bagh area of Srinagar city over the past month. All the taps according to locals are running dry while in some residential houses which use motors complain that the pressure is so low that it takes over an hour to fill a bucket.
A delegation from the area said that inhabitants have been suffering badly on account of water scarcity Not speaking of taking bath, our female folks are unable to wash even utensils. Both the men and women fetch water from nearby localities, they said.
One of the members of the delegation said that he has been continuously fetching water from Natipora locality from his relatives.
The locals alleged that the authorities have miserably failed to ensure water supply to the area and not a single official or politician is concerned about their plight. Despite complaints no steps have been taken to improve the supply, said Bali Singh.
When contacted, an official from PHE department said that the department was coming up with a plan to revamp the supply network so that the problem is solved once for all. The problem will be solved within days, he said.
