Srinagar: In its attempt to make inroads in Kashmir Valley, BJP in Jammu and Kashmir today launched a week-long mass-contact programme from Anantnag district, for the first time since joining the PDP-led government.
To connect with the people and grass-root level workers, ‘Maha Sampark’ programme was launched today by the BJP which will also help the party “realise its strength”.
“We have kick-started a mass contact programme ‘Maha Sampark’ from Anantnag district.
“The motive of the programme is to reach out to the grass-root level workers, particularly those who recently joined the party,” BJP state general secretary Ashok Kaul said. Kaul is heading the programme.
He said the mass-contact programme will help the party realise its strength in the area and at the same time it will also help the party workers to convey their grievances to their seniors.
“We want to develop the mass-contact with the new party workers so that their involvement in the developmental process is ensured,” the BJP leader said adding it would help the party to know the “genuine and dedicated” workers, who would be promoted in the party ranking later.
Kaul said the programme would continue till May 6 and will be held at different places across Kashmir Valley.
Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party which claims to have inducted three lakh members in Kashmir valley said that they have also inducted 3000 members in the Tangdhar villages near the Line of Control.
According to the BJP leadership, the membership drive is receiving huge response from the areas of the Tangdhar, Karnah near LOC.
It is a rare feat that we have been able to achieve over three lakh mark in terms of membership in Kashmir Valley. We got the report from our cadres that our membership near the Tangdar LOC has crossed 3000.
This figure will encourage us to achieve more, BJPs member monitoring committee and media in charge Kashmir, Altaf Thakur said.
Thakur said that PM Narendra Modis slogan of good governance, development, special attention towards Kashmir society and financial help to flood affected people has attracted the new members into the party fold.
The most important is the youth of Kashmir and from last one month we added thousands among them into our party, he said adding that the party is aiming to add more members in its fold in coming months across the Kashmir valley.
The membership drive was officially kick started here in Kashmir in which all the partys senior workers, district heads and candidates fielded in recently held elections in different constituencies across Kashmir valley were present, he said, adding that the aim is to reach every household in Kashmir.
He said that the initiative was taken across the country to make the BJP one of the largest cadre based party in the world, he said.
Elaborating on the mechanics of the membership drive, he said that BJP has established a Toll Free No. 18002662020, which on dialling automatically seek information from the caller and register him as a member of the party without incurring any expenditure.
