Srinagar: Government is in no mood to heal the ailing education sector in Kashmir Valley. The officials at the helm of affairs have been taking parents for a ride. The repeated statements and claims made by the J&K Education Minister, according to parents, are proving hollow. In scores of government schools in Kashmir Valley teachers outnumber students while in Government Girls Middle School Guzarbal Noorbagh, only two teachers take care of eight classes.
There is no head teacher in the school. Only two teachers handle the affairs of school. The officials didnt care for the children of poor parents as their wards receive education in reputed private institutions, the father of a girl student said adding the career of the students is at stake given the fact the teachers have to club two classes together due to the lack of staff.
The parents alleged that Chief Education Officer has been giving phony assurances to them. Despite repeated pleas to depute some teachers to the school, the CEO did not act, they said and added that the officials present at Directorate office Srinagar did not allow them to meet Director School Education.
I am a student but have been acting as a teacher. You will never find me in my own class as the teachers have directed me to take care of students from class 1st to 5th, said an eight standard student adding that from last two years there have been only two teachers.
It is a serious matter. CEO is in-front of me and I will direct him to depute some teachers to the said school. Be assured the school will get teachers by Thursday, Director Education Showkat Ahmed Beigh said. CNS.
