Srinagar: In a heart-wrenching incident, a toddler was charred to death in a fire incident that took place in Sheeri area of north Kashmirs Baramulla district.
A senior police officer said that at around noon today, fire broke out in the one story house of Showkat Ahmad in Laridora in Sheeri.
At the time of fire, the two children of Showkat were in the house and unfortunately his one and half year old kid identified as Mansoor Showkat lost his life, he said, adding, Showkats 14 months old daughter is missing.
The officer said they have recovered the body of the toddler from debris while the search for another one is on. He said the house of the Showkat was made up of mud and that is why it consumed the life of Mansoor.
The officer further said that the mother of kids was out for some work at the time of incident while Showkat, who is a labourer by profession, too was not present there.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case in this regard and investigation has been taken up. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet.
