KOLKATTA: Kashmir FC recorded their first win of the 2nd leg with a fantastic comeback victory against United sports in the Round 9 of I-league Division 2nd at Goalaghat Assam.
The team started the match aggressively with attacking intent with the duo of Christopher and Ajay again making themselves noticed with their combination play that created the first couple of chances for the team early on in the game.But it was United sports who scored the first goal against the run of play in the first half.
Kashmir FC then went hard for the goal and their persistent play was awarded when in the 66th minute Christopher tapped in home from an attempted effort of Ajay which was parried away by the keeper straight into the path of Christopher who made no mistakes.The team immediately doubled the lead with Christopher’s attempted shot which was headed in by Ajay.Ajay then scored his double with a fine low finish beating the keeper at the near post.United scored a consolation goal in the dying minutes with the final scoreline emerginh 3-2 in favour of Kashmir FC.
Coach Hilal said” It is a wonderful win we were almost counted out by others until the 65th minute but we mustered up courage and fought back to win the game.It is an incredible
effort by the boys.They have shown how resilient we are and our never give up attitude makes us a set unit”.
Gen Sec Majid Dar said.”The boys were fantastic they pulled the win out the skin of their teeths.It is a gritty performance which shows our character and will continue doing that. We need to keep on showing the consistency and dedication and results are bound to come our way.
Kashmir FC has climbed back to the 2nd spot and are proving to be a stiff competition to the other teams in the race of qualification.
