Ramban: A Tavera Taxi which was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu bearing No JK03D-8876 at 06:30 am rolled down in river Chenab at Mehar, 2 km away from Ramban town. 12 persons were travelling in Tavera in which 6 persons were injured, 4 persons died and 2 persons were missing till now.
District Development Commissioner, Ramban Farooq Shah Bukhari rushed to the spot and asked authorities of Baglihar Hydro Electric Power Project for decreasing the flow of water. It was only after the flow of water decreased that four dead bodies were fished out from the river Chenab by the local voluntaries of Red Cross.
DDC also visited D.H Ramban and enquired about the condition of five injured persons which were hospitalized at D.H Ramban. He directed the Medical Officers to provide immediate and adequate treatment to injured persons.
