Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Friday threatened valley wide agitation if there is any change made to the proposed AIIMS at Kashmir.
In a statement, DAK Chairman Dr G M Mir said that if Government fails to establish the AIIMS in Kashmir as proposed the doctors will come on roads and an unprecedented agitation will be started in valley.
Alleging a bias against Kashmir in policy matters, DAK said whenever something is being done for the valley, a section of politicians always make it a regional issue.
It is pertinent to mention here that when IIT was granted to jammu ,the people of valley never raised a hue and cry over it. Further five medical colleges were proposed for the state but unfortunately nothing has been done till date about them as well.
Kashmir deserves highest priority when it comes to health care as it is mostly cut off from rest of the country due to bad weather and poor connectivity.
Furthermore the present health care facilities available in the valley are not keeping pace with the rest of the country. Because of this so many patients are to be referred and many people go to other places for specialized treatment. We appeal the civil society, media fraternity, business community to take this issue seriously and formulate the joint strategy to counter those forces who have anti-Kashmir bias.
