PM Modi To Expand Cabinet Next Week
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to expand his cabinet on April 8. Reportedly, many of the ministers may be elevated while others may face demotion. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti whose party has an alliance with BJP in the Jammu and Kashmir may join Modi cabinet next week.
According to India Today, the name of the Ministers who would get plum offer are Rajiv Pratap Rudy (MoS for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge), Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi (MoS for Minority and Parliamentary Affairs) and Manoj Sinha (MoS for Railways).
Union Minister of Minority affair Najma Heptullah could be dropped from union council of Ministers as she would be made governor of a State.
Reportedly, this cabinet reshuffling will take place a day before Prime Minister’s scheduled three nation tour.
Sources say that BJP’s ally Shiv Sena which has been demanding more seats in Modi cabinet may get one this time. Sena’s nominee Anil Desai who was left high and dry in last expansion may be made MoS.
It is being said Prime Minister wants to give tough message to non-performing Ministers with this expansion. At the same time Modi wants to reward all those( Ministers) who have performed well in these days.
At present, Modi government has total 26 Union ministers, and 39 MoS. In last expansion, BJP government had inducted 21 new faces.
