Srinagar: Terming the current flood like situation across the Valley as admonition to the people of Kashmir, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah has appealed the religious preachers (Imams) and general public to hold special prayers in this regard.
In a statement, Shah said the situation has given rise to various issues and has appealed to well-to-do people to dedicate themselves and extend every possible support to their flood affected brethren.
Appealing Imams (preachers) of Masajids and people to hold special supplications after Friday prayers Shah said, Weve to repent for our sins and pray to Almighty to save us from natural calamities. He also expressed serious grief over the loss of lives and properties due to landslides and incessant rains Shah said the supplication (dua) is our only means to protect ourselves from such divine punishment.
Lauding the role of local committees in flood affected areas, the DFP chairman said, Weve to unite irrespective of religion, caste and creed in this hour of grief. The Mohalla committees and Bait-ul-Maal have much responsibility in this regard.
