NEW DELHI Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today described the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as one of the tallest visionary statesmen of the country. He said conferring Bharat Ratna on him is a fitting recognition of his illustrious Political career.
The Chief Minister said this while attending a function here today where the former Prime Minister received the prestigious award from the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.
Describing Vajpayee as one of the most outstanding Prime Ministers of the country in the post-Independence era, Mufti said he believed in taking the country forward through consensus and reconciliation.
Praising Vajpayees efforts during his tenure as Prime Minister in taking peace initiatives in the State, the Chief Minister said Vajpayee is still admired in J&K for his historic initiatives in engaging all stakeholders in a constructive and meaningful dialogue.
