The former chief minister Omar Abdullah Thursday claimed that his government always advocated for the dialogue between New Delhi and Hurriyat conference for the resolution of the pending Kashmir issue.
Omar while talking to reporters outside the Assembly in Jammu said, PDP is creating a misplaced euphoria while pitching for the talks between New Delhi and Hurriyat Conference as his government from the very day one has been pitching for the same. It is nothing new what the PDP at present is claiming. We have been always advocating for the fruitful and result oriented dialogue between the stake holders for the amicable solution to the Kashmir problem at an earliest.
Omar, who is the working president of National Conference and a legislator from Beerwah said, The speeches made by me as the chief minister of the state in the past vindicate that I always have been the greatest supporter of talks between the stake holders and the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.
You can check those speeches which I have made as the chief minister of the state. Be it August 15, January 26, the internal security meet or any other occasion, I have always strived for the negotiations for addressing the Kashmir problem, Omar told reporters in Jammu, Omar added.
The former chief minister also took a dig at the PDP saying it is nothing new what the PDP is claiming to have achieved. Replying to a question about the PDP striving for holding of the dialogue process with the Huriyat Conference, Omar said what already has been pitched and suggested cannot be termed as a novel idea.
The former CM asserted further that talks are the only way to resolve the pending issues and that gun and violence can never solve any problem. He added that in the past also, it was tried by various elements to scuttle the process of talks but the attempts failed to yield the desired results.
You Wanted Separatists to Rot in Jails: PDP
SRINAGAR: In a scathing attack against Omar Abdullah over his remarks that he always strived for dialogue for the Kashmir resolution, ruling Peoples Democratic Party Thursday said his (Omars) claims at present contradict with his past actions.
Omar could be right when he claims that nothing has changed as it was he who wanted separatists to get rotten in jails and was suggesting bombing Pakistan, PDP senior leader and education minister Naeem Akhtar said.
The only difference is that our efforts for ensuring peace and stability in the state are known to everyone and what Omar did is not a hidden entity indeed, he said and maintained that the PDP initiated efforts for peace and reconciliation in 2002 and earlier the opposite was going on in the state.
It was Omar who said he wants separatists to get rotten in jails and suggested bombing Pakistan. Now, what he claims at present could be best known to Omar himself, Akhtar said.
PDP was reacting to Omars remarks that if somebody has today batted for talks, it is nothing new.
