In continuation to the celebration of World Arbour Day, a plantation programme was organized by the J&K Forest department for the school children today in the foot hills of Zabarwan. The students from Islamia Mission High School, Karpora Cheshmashahi, Sunrise High School, Brane Nishat and Scotland High School, Brane Nishat participated in the drive and planted conifer plants. Later on the students visited the Kralsangri Nursery and were briefed about the raising of conifers in Nursery besides other plantation techniques.
The Chief Conservator of Forests, Kashmir, Mr. Nisar Ahmad interacted with the students. Conservator of Forests, Srinagar Circle, Mr. Farooq Gillani, Mr. Nazir Be Nazir, Chairman National Society for Environment and Wetlands and DFO Urban Forestry Division, Srinagar Mr. Hakeen Mukhtar were also present. Deodar plants were distributed among the children for planting in their homesteads.
