SRINAGAR: In a fatal road accident on Srinagar Jammu highway, seven persons were killed while five others were injured on Thursday morning.
Reports said driver of a Sumo Taxi lost control over the wheels at Chakori Nallah Banihal on Srinagar-Jammu highway Thursday morning resulting in the mishap.
Police sources said that the vehicle bearing registration number JKO2W/6214 while on way from Jammu to Srinagar rolled down into a deep gorge near Chakori Nallah in Banihal resulting in the death of 7 persons.
Out of the seven slain persons, six were non-locals, a police official said and identified the deceased as Sumo driver Muhammad Yousuf of Pampore, , Hasan Imam, Haroon Shah, Farman Shah, Ghulam Rasool, Imamudin and Muhammad Mistri, all residents of Champaran Bihar.
Five persons namely Samiullah, Saifullah, Muhammad Imran, Feroz Ahmed Khan and Ziaul Haq were injured and they were shifted to nearby hospital. The injured are critical and are treated in the hospital, a police official said.
