Srinagar: Chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah Saturday expressed his heartfelt solidarity with the families of Kunan Poshpora who fell victims to brutality and inhuman act of forces 24 years ago during an Army operation in the area.
He also expressed strong resentment and sorrow over the silence adopted by the world bodies over incidents like Kunan Poshpora taking place in a highly militarized zone of the world. International community must initiate an impartial investigation against the perpetrators of these heinous crimes. The state administration by giving clean chit to culprits of unfortunate incidents like Chanapora, Jigarpora, Shopian (Asiya-Neelofar), etc showed its indifference and bias, he said.
Hailing the role played by civil society in demanding justice for victims of Kunan Poshpora and others, Shah said, Though we dont expect any justice from government, the role played by civil society contributes in highlighting the plight of these victims at global spheres.
