Srinagar: Expressing concern and anguish over the deaths caused due to the swine flu virus in Jammu & Kashmir, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Saturday appealed people not to panic and follow the precautionary measures issued by the doctors and hold special prayers.
In a statement from New Delhi he said, Oeople should show same courage and passion in fighting the deadly disease like they showed in the recent flood fury which stuck the oppressed state last year. The vital responsibility regarding to this issue lies on the shoulders of Doctors and we hope that they will perform their duty honestly.
People should not be kept in dark about to this disease and they should be made aware about all the facts related to this issue. To contain this disease from spreading further and stopping the further damage, it is necessary for the people to fully know the causes, nature and results of the disease, he said.
Geelani appreciated the doctors for setting up a round the clock helpline number for the general public and said that whether it is the matter of devastating floods or the swine flu like epidemic, the state administration has always acted with carelessness. On these occasions the performance of the NGOs was better in this regard.
He expressed his sympathy and condolence with the families of the deceased people who were slain due to the swine flu virus and said that I equally share the grief of these people. He appealed the people to strictly follow the preventive measures and held special prayers in this regard.
