SRINAGAR: Alliance between PDP and BJP has been finalised and even Cabinet portfolios are decided, NC on Tuesday claimed and alleged that statement of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed asking BJP to ally with NC was nothing but a “drama” to get full term as chief minister of the state.
“PDP has finalised its alliance with the BJP and this became clear with their alliance in the Rajya Sabha polls.
Now, the two parties are also jointly contesting the elections to the Legislative Council seats that have fallen vacant.”
“Even the Cabinet portfolios have been finalised and sealed. The only bone of contention between PDP and BJP is on the issue of the chief ministerial arrangement and every other pretence by the PDP is purely a guilt-laden attempt by Sayeed to create moral smokescreens to justify unjustifiable ideological u-turn by the party,” according to joint statement issued by senior party leaders here today.
The NC said PDP should understand that people of Kashmir were neither naive nor gullible to be misled by these “dramas”, it said.
Those who signed the statement include Ali Mohammad Sagar, Abdul Rahim Rather, Mohammad Shafi Uri, Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Mubarak Gul, Mian Altaf Ahmed, Nasir Aslam Wani, Sakina Ittoo, Shameema Firdous and the newly elected legislators of the party.
Hitting hard at the PDP NC leaders said: PDP was insulting the intelligence of the people by assuming its theatrical melodrama in the media could actually give the semblance of an apparent ideological element in PDP’s DNA where none exists.
PDP’s sly drama of suddenly being capricious and haughty and not being interested in government formation would have been intensely funny if it wasn’t so tragic given the high moral pretensions and sermons of Mufti Sayeed and his party. National Conference chose not to sacrifice its principled stands and ideology for the petty trappings of power and we have been consistent and unambiguous about our stand since the first day. If National Conference wanted to be in the Government, that would have happened. However, NC chose to stick to its ideology and principles. PDP on a diametrically opposite scale epitomized its lack of integrity and dignity by hankering after BJP from day one for making Mufti Sayeed the Chief Minister. For that lone and singular goal they were prepared to sell their soul and compromise on every single apparently moral stand they advocated before the elections. PDP has backtracked on every single statement and speech that its leaders made during the election campaign. From asking people to vote for PDP to keep BJP ‘at bay’, to calling BJP a ‘communal foreign-body’ to actually joining hands with BJP immediately after election results, PDP’s theater of opportunism has come a full circle. Contrary to what PDP leaders might assume, the people are neither blind nor deaf and have witnessed a historic political back-stabbing, the joint NC statement by Senior Party Leaders further stated.
