Pulwama: Contractual teachers of 2014 session Tuesday appealed to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to bring them under the ambit of SRO 255.
The temporarily teachers were engaged vide order number: 482-EDU of 2014, dated: 02-07-2014 of school education department for one academic session and were selected on merit basis among 60,000 applicants.
The teachers were engaged against clear vacancies in the school education department for one academic session.
The teachers told CNS that there were 27,000 vacancies of teachers in the department. The authorities can continue us on the vacant positions. It would not only improve quality of teaching in the schools of the state but will also save future of around eight thousand candidates, they said.
The teachers added that all the temporarily engaged teachers are highly qualified including 122 PhD. They said that some of them have reached the maximum age criteria and cant apply for various government jobs.
The contractual teachers impressed up on the authorities including Secretary Education and Director of school education to frame a continuation policy in their
favour in line with the policy framed for 2006 contractual teachers. (CNS)
