Gulmarag: A local guide was killed when an avalanche swept away a group in the higher reaches of tourist resort Gulmarag on Wednesday.
A police official said that at around 12 p.m. an avalanche triggered by fresh snowfall from the higher reaches of Kongdori Gulmarag swept away a group of people. So far we have recovered one body that was buried under snow. Search for other missing persons was going on in a big way, SSP Baramulla Mir Suhail said adding that he cant tell with authority how many persons have gone missing.
Avalanche Rescue Teams located at Gulmarag were immediately launched and commenced the search and rescue operation, he said and identified the deceased person as Bashir Ahmed Bakshi son of Nazir Ahmed a resident of Watapora Tangmarag.
