Srinagar: More than 8 quintals of banned polythene has been seized at Lower Munda Checkpost from a vehicle attached with M/S Universal Goods Transport Company Narwal, Jammu by J&K Commercial Taxes Department.
According to Commercial Taxes Officer at Checkpost Lowermunda, Hamid Ganai a vehicle bearing registration No. JK03D/3271 approached the checkpost for clearance to produced the challan.
However, when the vehicle was put under routine physical inspection it was found that the driver in nexus with transporter and dealer has kept hidden the banned Polythene carry bags under the Barrels very cleverly. We managed to deduct the banned polythene after a thorough physical Check of the vehicle and proceedings under J&K VAT Act.2005 were initiated against the offenders, Ganaie told CNS.
Ganai said that every effort is being made at the checkpost to stop the illegal import of banned polythene into the Valley. (CNS)
