Srinagar: Twenty employees of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) were handed over Presidential medal for their meritorious services in Jammu and Kashmir after the awards were conferred on them by President of India Pranab Mukherjee.
In a statement SMC PRO Masrat Yosuf said, The Presidential Awards were given by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir division, Rohit Kansal, during Republic Day celebrations in Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium. These awards are recognition of the outstanding zeal of SMC employees and their high quality services.
The Presidential awards included 14 silver and six bronze awards for exceptional work of supervisors and enumerators during the Census of India 2011.
Those conferred upon with awards include SMC secretary Hilal Ahmad Deewani, Chief Sanitation Officer Manzoor Ahmad Taray, Estates Officer Issar Ahmad Khan, Ward Officer Nazir Ahmad Baba and GIS Engineer civil Altaf Hussain.
Retired chief enforcement officer Hakim Ejaz Ali was also awarded for his services besides a number of enumerators.
