SRINAGAR: Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Thursday said the government employee would go on a day long strike in protest against publishing of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in France.
EJAC president Aijaz Ahmad Khan said all the government employees would also stage protest against the insulting caricatures that have hurt the sentiments of millions of Muslims the world over.
Earlier Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani called for a shutdown against the re-publishing of the offensive caricatures and urged people to stage protests against the blasphemous act.
In a statement issued today, Geelani called re-publishing of caricatures Jewish journalistic hooliganism. The largest print and electronic media houses of the world are running under the influence of Zionist forces and they are prejudiced towards the Muslims and they term it as their religious duty, Geelani alleged.
He urged people t stage protests against the act on Friday.
The veteran pro-freedom leader, who is currently camping in Delhi, said: any act of dishonor to the Prophet of Islam (Pbuh) was unacceptable for every Muslim of the world and to raise voice against this act was the matter of faith for every Muslim.
He said publishing of blasphemous sketches of the Prophet of Islam by Charlie Hebdo in Paris was no coincidence but it was an act of a big plan and it serves many purposes of the Zionist lobby.
On the one hand the Muslims are insulted and abused and on the other hand when they react to these acts, they get a chance to label them as extremists and terrorists, he said.
Lashing out at West for defending the publishing of caricatures, he said: the West in the name of so-called freedom of expression was freely insulting and abusing the faith and the religion of the Muslims.
Geelani appealed people all the sections of society make his shutdown call successful and express your love and affection with the beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
